I was on The Guilty Feminist during Lockdown

I have been a huge fan of The Guilty Feminist podcast for such a long time – if you haven’t listened to it, please do so immediately! It is hosted by comedian Deborah Frances-White and “explores our noble goals as 21st centenary feminists and the hypocrisies and insecurities which undermine them.” The podcast covers topics such as ‘Fighting for Your Rights’ and ‘Feminist Marriage’ and has taught me so much about what it means to be a feminist in today’s world.

During the Coronavirus lockdown, Deborah has been hosting an Instagram Live show called The New Normal weekdays at 6 pm. I asked if I could be on one of the episodes to share the experiences of disabled people in these scary times and my feminist hero said yes!

On April 13 I joined The Guilty Feminist herself for a natter – you can watch it on YouTube here. Let me know what you think! Was I somewhat coherent or did I just fangirl the whole time?

The charity I promote in the episode is Sisters of Frida who I am currently working with to research how Coronavirus is impacting disabled women. Please support them if you can as disabled people are being forgotten during this crisis. You can read more about how the Government is failing disabled people in my piece for The Independent here.

Last but by no means least, the T-shirt mentioned in the episode is now available! The quote chosen is “Maggie Smith Cures Everything” which sums me up perfectly. If you wanted to buy one that would be absolutely amazing and if you know Maggie Smith, get one for her too!

It was so much fun talking to Deborah Frances-White on #TheNewNormal – you can follow everything Guilty Feminist related here.
